Ho. Ly. Crap. I think this line indicates the gravity of the situation: Nolan Ryan even had to take a second to digest the information. The thought of that had never crossed his mind. Just to add something to this: my dad has a theory that my generation (i.e., people born in the ’90s) generally regard the Rangers as better than the Cowboys, probably because the Cowboys were at their best in the early 90’s — which most of us either weren’t alive to see or don’t remember much about, if anything at all. After that….well, let’s just say the Cowboys haven’t reached that level of success lately. So basically we’ve never really seen them as “good”, at least not recently. Meanwhile, the Rangers have played some really good baseball over the past few years. So it makes sense that people my age would see them as a team that’s better and more reliable than the Cowboys. We haven’t seen a good Cowboys team for a while, if ever, but we HAVE seen a good Rangers team. We ARE seeing a good Rangers team. So yeah, there’s that. (Source: lupilu85)
